About Us

The Worship Leader Conferences operate under the conviction that God is at work renewing the global Church through worship, and at the heart of this renewal is God’s people turning to him in prayer. God’s greatest prayer agent is music. When we sing, we do so with one voice, and we join the prayer of Jesus Christ who offers our prayers to the Father on our behalf.
Each of the Worship Leader Conference sessions, conversation topics, classes, and times of prayer and worship are designed with this in mind – delving into the musical prayer language of the church and gaining insight and practices that will help us make sure our churches are houses of prayer.

Worship Leader Conference 2017 Theme

We sing what we love. Our songs are prayers of our common struggles, our common joys, our common stories, our common dependence on God in our individual and communal lives. A leader of prayer and worship is aware that God is constantly doing a new work, offering new mercies, putting a new song in our hearts. And as prayer has its own unique language, vocabulary, and imagery, leading in prayer is a gifting and a skill that can be fostered and cultivated to the glory of God.

Why should a worship leader continue learning?

As Hughes Oliphant Old says, “One must be experienced in prayer to lead in prayer.” Understanding that our congregational songs are the common prayers of the people is vital to today’s worship leadership, and there is much we can learn about leading in prayer. A leader of prayer and worship is aware that God is constantly doing a new work, offering new mercies, putting a new song in our hearts. Since all transformation occurs through prayer, when we see our set lists as prayer lists, we change the definition of what it means to worship together. And as prayer has its own unique language, vocabulary, and imagery, leading in prayer is a gifting and a skill that can be fostered and cultivated to the glory of God.

What sets Worship Leader Conferences apart?

The short answer is the focus on prayer. Throughout the history of the Church, prayers have been offered to God in a great variety of languages, literary styles, and musical strains. Today, prayer is often a secondary consideration to the music, the sermon, the visuals, among other aspects for a weekend service. However, at the Worship Leader Conferences we will gather to learn how to reinstate prayer as the central, divinely inspired communication of every service of worship.
